6th International Conference of Possibility Studies — Waves of Possibility
University of Sussex, Brighton (UK)
Together with Lena Gan (PhD, University of Melbourne, AU) and Pamela Burnard (Professor of Arts, Creativities and Educations at Cambridge University, UK), we will unfold the following workshop:
Resonant relation in the space beyond words
How do we relate when words fall away; how do synchrony, resonance and empathy emerge; what conversations become possible? In a pedagogical landscape increasingly shaped by AI, automation, and language-mediated interaction, learning and social connection are becoming more abstract and disembodied. This workshop reasserts the importance of embodied, affective, relational modes of knowing and becoming. It asks how synchrony, empathy and meaning might emerge when words are suspended.

Who are you? Who are we?
Sometimes deep insights are hidden in the obvious. Such as people’s ability to interact with complete strangers without fear, and even to mingle with them on the streets, on the bus, in shops … and at conferences. It may be surprising that this human trait is rather unique in the animal kingdom. This short workshop on difference and similarity briefly explores how playful artistic experiences facilitate encounters with strangers. As individuals, we can start with a glance. Perhaps a glance of understanding, expectation, or reserve. Then we add a sound …
